Stories came into existence because of the human need to tell as well as to listen. These are the two most basic concomitants of language. When stories are told feelingly they become very engaging. I remember, six months ago the publisher of my first story collection, MARRIAGES ARE MADE IN INDIA, informed me that an American reader messaged him on Facebook at 1 in the night saying that he needed to sleep but couldn’t put this story collection down as he was in the middle of something that had gripped him. That was really great news for me.
